"I know," Russell says, dropping the whole police officer act. He's been trying hard not to put it up in the first place, but with something like this, it's sometimes easier. If he can just distance himself, be a cop for awhile instead of her friend, it's not quite as hard to hear, but that's not what Molly needs from him either. The reason he's here instead of another cop is because he's her friend.

"You want to take a break?" he asks, reaching for the recorder. "I can get you some water or somethin' and we can just take it easy for a few minutes."
