He could lie to her, he knows, but he doesn't know if that would make it any easier or any better. Besides, he doesn't want to say things just to make Molly feel better, he wants her to know the truth and maybe one day she'll know it wasn't anything she could've seen coming. His hand rubs her arm gently, almost absently, though he's careful not to put much pressure on her.

"Yeah, we think so," he says with a nod. "Jane... uh, Detective Timoney, she's been doin' some work with a couple of murders over the past several months. Workin' out connections, things like that. It's beginning to look like at least some of them were him." And he knows Jane would've got the asshole sooner or later, he just wishes this hadn't had to happen before that.
