Well, frak.

Kara pulls up short when she hears her name. There's a tense second where she peers through the falling ash - it's not helpful, and honestly she's trying not to breathe much of it if she can stop herself - and tries to pick out whoever's calling her name, but when she realises that it's Molly it's not relief she feels -- her stomach sinks. Molly's amazement at finding her is completely ignored and dismissed, because there's no time. That's what's bearing down on her, that there's no frakking time.

"Where's Lee?" It's the immediate question, but she's not asking for the reasons the one might think. It's not because she's more worried about Lee than Molly-- no, it's actually that she's worried for Molly, because whatever the frak's out there, as far as Kara knows, Molly's a civilian. Just from the way that Molly doesn't immediately answer tells Kara enough, and she nods. "Come on. We've got to get to the gun store and then somewhere safe before it gets darker - with this ash, we don't have much time."

In the two weeks they've known each other, Molly's never heard Kara talk like that, but she's likely heard it from Lee once or twice. It's pure military, and Kara's got a job to do. Keep Molly within sight, now. Get armed. Get somewhere safe that they can hole up for the night, preferably defensible, and then find some frakking water. She's hoping that the pipes still work, but right now she's not counting on anything.
