It's only once they actually get to Kagura and are settling into their room that Molly realizes she's never actually done this before. Ski trips are practically tradition for her, something her family used to do often, when her dad had the time away from work; in that regard, this is familiar, normal. Not once, though, has she ever gone away for a weekend with a guy she's been seeing. Even when she had a boyfriend she lived with for a while, nothing like this ever entered the picture. She isn't sure, then, what's more telling — that they're here at all, or that she said yes to this without having to give it a second thought. The latter, she's pretty sure, isn't just because it's been a long time since she went skiing, and it'll be nice to get to before Kagura is shut down until December, either.

Really, it isn't as if she hasn't considered it before, how serious they might be getting. The times she has, though, it's always been fleeting, nothing she could or had to determine one way or the other. Now, she has to wonder if maybe she was just postponing the inevitable, if the last few months were always leading here. She can't say that the idea doesn't freak her out a little, but all things considered, it's not as bad as it could be, or even as she would have expected. Whatever they've been doing, whatever it means, she likes it. A weekend trip to a ski lodge sure as hell isn't going to change that.

She's actually pretty excited about it, no matter what kind of a step this might be. Timing-wise, it's worked out kind of perfectly, with their getting up here just before the end of the season, so soon after her getting promoted. There's actually a fair bit she wants to do, too, but for the time being, she flops onto the bed, sighing exaggeratedly as she does. "Okay, so you know we are going to have to leave the room at least once this weekend, right? I'm just putting that out there now."

"No, I think this place does room service," Lee says, and he's carrying their bags in, setting hers next to the bed as he wheels his to a corner. He's not sure if it counts as a vacation, heading to a mountain just on the outskirts of a city that they can't leave, but it's about as close as it gets.

And this is probably a hell of a lot closer than a couple of days of R&R on Cloud Nine back with the Fleet. Even then, getting a few days off never really felt like it. One Cylon sighting, and he'd be back in a cockpit, back in the pilot ready room. There were never really breaks.

"So, I think we're covered."

"Well I've never been, and I turned out okay," Lee says, to the suggestion of going skiing. He'd never even heard of it, before Darrow, actually. "And let me tell you, as someone who used to fly Vipers for a living? Strapping two poles to your feet and sliding down a mountain is frakking crazy."

He has a feeling that Molly is going to try to talk him into it anyway. And a feeling that he'll probably end up giving in, eventually.

"I'll go," Lee says, "but that doesn't mean I still don't think it's frakking crazy."

Besides, flying Vipers was different. That was something done out of necessity. Maybe if the way hadn't happened, there wouldn't have been much of a need for them, but as it is, flying planes out of duty seems less insane to Lee than skiing presumably for fun.

"But you don't get to laugh if I end up spending the entire day on my ass."

"Gods," Lee says, and he finally sits on the bed, more amused than he might let on, even if he's still not wild about the idea of falling in snow later. If Darrow was going to get a vacation destination out of nowhere, he would have preferred some place a little more tropical.

He's not sure if he's relieved or a little freaked out that it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility.

Lee flops onto his back, then turns his head to look at Molly.

"I can't take you anywhere, can I?"

"Pyramid, yes," Lee says, looking up at her with an amused and fond expression, "Strapping sticks to our feet and throwing ourselves down a mountain? Not so much."

He's probably about as tempted as Molly is to take advantage of their current situation, and despite his protests to the contrary, he knows that they can do that just about any time. This is a weekend that should probably be about more than that. Even if it will probably involve Molly laughing while he falls on his ass in the snow.

"It definitely has nothing to do with geographical structures," Lee replies, with a soft laugh. He's told Molly a lot about where he comes from, but sometimes he forgets what he may or may not have gotten to yet. As similar as a lot of things are between their respective homes, the things that are different are drastically so.

"It's a sport. One ball, three goals, pyramid-shaped court. No strapping things to your feet required."

"Two teams, three goals... kind of a free for all as far as scoring goes. I'll have to set up a court, show you sometime," Lee says, and he thinks there's enough space in the courtyard near their apartment building to make it work. Either that, or he could set up pillows in their room right now, but he's a little too comfortable to consider that right now.

"I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to do it with hotel pillows," Lee says, though he doesn't have any intention of actually trying it. It's a weekend away, but he doesn't particularly think either of them want to spend it pretending to play Pyramid. "A towel for a ball? How's your aim?"
